This project at Hyatt Place located in Whippany, NJ presented a unique commercial roof challenge. Upon inspection, we discovered significant damage – extensive areas of rotten plywood – likely caused by a combination of factors. Settling of the structure itself, along with potential issues with the original roof framing, could have contributed to improper water drainage.
Addressing these concerns required a multi-step process. First, we meticulously removed all the damaged and compromised plywood sheathing. This ensures a solid and stable base for the new roof components. Next, we tackled the structural issues. Finally, with a solid foundation in place, we could focus on re-framing the roof itself. This meticulous process involves ensuring all the roof components – rafters, trusses, hips, and ridges – are correctly sized, positioned, and angled. We eliminated the root cause of the potential leaks and ensured the long-term health and functionality of the entire roofing system at Hyatt Place.
