David, your thoughtful review gives us a great chance to hop on our soapbox and make a couple of comments about the state of the roofing industry. First, you mentioned that Michael followed up after the job to make sure you were pleased. That extra step flies in the face of the prevailing “wisdom” among roofers, which is, “Be sure to cash the check before it rains.” Second, we don’t use shameless “closing techniques.” Every self-appointed guru in the industry tries to convince roofers that they must “close the deal on the spot,” but with a major decision like roof replacement, many people want time and space for reflection and due diligence. Some even need time to pray! Michael, with his patience, expertise, and soft-spoke nature, is proof positive and Exhibit A that the gurus can keep their snake oil. A roof estimate is not a “deal,” it’s a chance to begin building a generational relationship. Thanks for trusting us, and thanks for spreading the word!

Ian, we already liked you based on our pleasant interactions, but now we’re even bigger fans because you wrote such a nice review. Plus, any guy who goes to the trouble of wearing a necktie for his profile photo is telling the world that he has respect for everybody. Little things mean a lot, right? Since you mentioned reviews, I can’t resist pointing out how much more important reviews are than ratings. A rating is simply a number, and with numbers, a 4.5 looks about the same as a 5.0. Ah, but reviews are another matter because reviews are stories, and stories carry tremendous persuasive power. So again, thanks for writing such a compelling story, and I hope you feel a little more like a roof veteran now that you’ve been through the process!
