Area Drain Repair

Repair of an existing area drain to restore proper drainage and prevent flooding in outdoor spaces.

Location: Exterior

Tasks:

Preparation:

1. Locate area drain and perform visual inspection for clogs or damage.

2. Use camera inspection if needed to assess underground pipe condition.

3. Set up work area with tools (shovel, pipe cutter, drain snake).

Drain Assessment:

1. Clear debris from drain grate and catch basin.

2. Inspect pipe connections for cracks, root intrusion, or corrosion.

3. Determine repair scope (e.g., grate, pipe, or catch basin).

Repair Execution:

1. Replace damaged grate or catch basin if needed (PVC or metal).

2. Cut and replace cracked pipe segments with PVC and appropriate fittings.

3. Clear root intrusion or clogs using drain snake or hydro-jetting.

Testing:

1. Run water through area drain to test for proper flow.

2. Verify no pooling or backup around drain.

3. Check connections for leaks or instability.

Cleanup and Final Steps:

1. Restore surrounding area (quoted separately for landscaping).

2. Dispose of debris and damaged parts per local regulations.

3. Conduct client walkthrough to demonstrate drainage.

Notes:

- Restores proper drainage to prevent flooding in outdoor areas.

- Landscaping or pavement repairs quoted separately.

- Advise client to clean drain grate regularly to prevent clogs.

- Estimate valid for 60 days from issuance

- Unforeseen issues or additional work will be quoted separately with client approval
