Descale RX Filter 1"
Install a 1-inch Descale RX filter system to treat hard water and prevent scale buildup in water heaters and plumbing systems, extending equipment lifespan and improving efficiency. The Descale RX filter uses a catalytic media (e.g., Template Assisted Crystallization) to transform dissolved calcium and magnesium into non-adhesive crystals that pass through the system without forming scale. This is critical for water heaters, as scale can reduce heating efficiency, increase energy costs, and lead to premature failure. The system requires no electricity, salt, or backwashing, making it low-maintenance and eco-friendly. Installation includes a bypass valve and shut-off valves for easy maintenance, ensuring reliable water quality for residential or commercial applications.
Location: Interior/Exterior (Near Water Heater or Main Water Line)
Tasks:
Preparation:
1. Locate optimal installation point on main water line or water heater inlet.
2. Shut off main water supply and drain affected piping section.
3. Set up work area with tools (pipe cutter, wrench, compression fittings, PPE) and drop cloths.
Filter Installation:
1. Install 1-inch Descale RX filter housing with catalytic media cartridge, per manufacturer specifications.
2. Connect filter to water line using copper or PEX piping with compression or threaded fittings.
3. Install bypass valve and shut-off valves for maintenance and filter replacement.
System Integration:
1. Secure filter housing to wall or floor with mounting brackets to prevent movement.
2. Ensure proper flow direction through filter (inlet/outlet per manufacturer markings).
3. Verify filter is accessible for future cartridge replacements (every 1-2 years).
Testing:
1. Restore water supply and check for leaks at all connections using a pressure test.
2. Run water through filter to verify flow rate and no restrictions.
3. Test water heater or fixtures to confirm normal operation post-installation.
Cleanup and Final Steps:
1. Clean work area and dispose of debris per local regulations.
2. Provide client with filter manual and maintenance schedule for cartridge replacement.
3. Conduct walkthrough to explain filter benefits and operation.
Notes:
- Prevents scale buildup in water heaters, improving efficiency and lifespan.
- Additional piping or relocation quoted separately if needed.
- Advise client to replace filter cartridge every 1-2 years, depending on water hardness.
- Estimate valid for 30 days from issuance
- Permit fees, if required, are included as a separate line item
- Unforeseen issues or additional work will be quoted separately with client approval
- Exclusions: Drywall, paint, stucco, tile, concrete, stone repairs, or existing water damage
- Warranty: 5 years parts, 2 years labor
