Our home was built around 1950 and never had adequate ventilation. The upstairs of the house was always hot in the summer and in the winter I was always using a snow rake to prevent ice daming. Frey construction addressed this problem by stripping the old roof off and adding ventilation starting from under the facia/soffet ending at the peak sandwiched between the old sub layer and a second new sub layer with adequate ice barrier.
