            The gutter helmet product is true to its name in that it shields the gutter from a buildup of leaves. However, in our case, it has a fatal flaw in the winter months that were never explained. Part of the installation on our home is over an entrance deck. Rain and melting snow resulted in ice formation in the gutter with icicles dripping on the deck and icing the deck proving to be a safety hazard that almost resulted in serious injury from a fall on dangerously iced deck and stairs.             As I get older I like it less and less to go up and down a ladder. However, I still want my gutters to be debri free and Gutter Helmet does that, I have no concerns about water backing up and causing damage to my home.             We had a problem at the corner of our house with an adjacent evergreen tree dropping needles into the rain gutters with the downspout being clogged resulting in flooding the egress well and the bedroom in the basement.
