Project Description


A homeowner in Greenwood, Indiana wanted an inspection of his personal residence before deciding whether to replace the roof. Referred by another real-estate professional, he chose a customer-paid roof and gutter project with Indy Roof & Restoration. The house received Malarkey Vista AR shingles in Brilliant Black, paired with RidgeFlex hip-and-ridge shingles.


The roof’s low slope called for ice-and-water protection across the entire roof beneath the shingles. Malarkey Arctic Seal supplied that coverage, with Smart Start shingles along the starting courses. The installation also included 118 feet of hip-and-ridge work, Quarrix Flex Roll ridge ventilation, black drip edge and black gutter apron.


Tear-off exposed delaminated decking, primarily on the front of the house, and the crew replaced 16 sheets of OSB. A loose rafter also needed sistering and bracing to stabilize it and bring it level with the adjacent framing. A construction change order addressed that work and added a third Broan vent to the two originally planned.


Flashing work covered two chimneys, eight feet of step flashing and 11 feet of wall flashing. Three Lifetime Ultimate pipe flashings and an electrical-mast flashing addressed the roof penetrations. After the roof installation in September 2025, the gutter crew replaced the drainage system with 108 feet of black six-inch gutters and five three-by-four-inch downspouts.

Dual Black Roof Replacement and Gutter Guards in Plainfield


Project Description


The homeowners on Wayside Court in Plainfield requested a replacement estimate for the house and outbuilding after Erie approved the roof claim. Indy Roof & Restoration reviewed the insurance scope and submitted a pre-production supplement for gutter guards, ice and water shield and starter shingles. The carrier approved those additions in August, increasing its scope.


The October replacement covered the house and shed, with IKO Cambridge AR shingles in Dual Black and matching hip and ridge shingles. The crew installed 117 linear feet of hip and ridge work, along with Tarco LeakBarrier MS300 ice and water shield, ABC Pro Guard 20 synthetic underlayment and IKO Leading Edge Plus starter shingles. Quarrix StormStop ridge ventilation formed part of the roofing system.


At the roof connections, the installation included eight linear feet of step flashing, seven linear feet of wall flashing and flashing at two chimneys. Two IPS pipe flashings and two black Broan exhaust roof caps addressed the other penetrations, while black drip edge and gutter apron finished the roof edges. The crew also detached and removed the satellite dish.


The homeowner chose black six-inch gutter guards after the supplement approval. Existing guards were detached for the roofing work, and 127 linear feet of economy guards were installed while the gutters themselves stayed in place. A completion inspection followed the roof and guard installation; the team then sent the certificate and completion photographs to the adjuster for depreciation, which the adjuster reported had been mailed to the insured.
