Highlander AR Roof Replacement With a Low-Slope Connection in Indianapolis


Project Description


Two roof coverings met along a narrow low-slope connection on this Indianapolis, Indiana, home. The March 2026 replacement used Malarkey Highlander AR architectural shingles on the steeper sections and a granulated membrane on the lower roof area. The membrane ran alongside a raised shingle-covered roof and extended beneath its edge. That change in pitch brought two different roofing surfaces together within the connected roof layout. On March 12, the crew worked across the shingled slopes and the adjoining low-slope section. ABC Pro Guard 20 synthetic underlayment covered the prepared deck beneath the shingle work. Capped fasteners held it in place while new courses advanced across the roof. Shingle bundles were staged nearby as the crew fitted the roofing around the changes in slope. In the lower area, installers worked with rolled roofing while a green sheet surface remained exposed. The finished surface had a continuous granular covering with visible seams across the narrow roof section. Beside it, cap shingles followed the diagonal edge of the raised hip, ending just above the membrane surface. The completed shingle roof also extended around a rectangular masonry chimney and several pipe penetrations. Dark metal flashing bordered the chimney base where it met the roofing, while fitted boots surrounded the pipes. Overlapping cap shingles finished the adjoining roof peaks, and a round turbine vent remained visible above one of the broader slopes. The low-slope connection joined these shingled roof sections through a separate strip of membrane roofing.

Project Description


Indy Roof & Restoration completed a 49-square house roof replacement on Abbotsbury Court in Greenwood. The shingle-roofing phase included roof pitches of 10/12 to 11/12. Crews installed 408 linear feet of hip-and-ridge shingles. The roof phase also included 31 linear feet of wall flashing and 15 linear feet of step flashing. The exterior scope cut in and installed 30 linear feet of trim at the front of the home. Crews painted that same 30-linear-foot run. The project removed an HVAC stack below the decking and closed the opening within the roof covering. A satellite dish was detached and reset during the roofing work.

We hired Indy Roof & Restoration (IR&R) to replace our roof and gutters this summer, and we are very happy with the result!
