Today we replaced a roof on a house built between the years of 1770 - 1790. George Washington was the President of the United States then!! Miller's Roofing Inc. replaced this roof over 35 years ago by the original Miller's Roofing owner, Jack Miller. The homeowner of this historical home said the house has been in his wife's family for the past 80 years. They contacted Miller's Roofing Inc. to replace the roof once again. We love our customers that call us for a re-roof decades later. It was originally built by a Mr. Hildebrand, who owned a lot of land in the town back in the 1700's. The house was also used as a tannery as it is conveniently located near the Conewago Creek. The brick of the house came over in a ship and was used as the ballast for the ship. There are beautiful logs that are 250 years old that make the front of the house. The logs are in perfect condition as there is wood siding over top of them, protecting them from the weather. There is a wall to wall fireplace in the summer kitchen in the back of the home. Originally the summer kitchen and front part of the house was not connected. We are grateful that this homeowner trusted Miller's Roofing once again with this roofing project.
