This Charcoal Gray Standing Seam Metal Roof in Easthampton was one of our more detailed builds this season, requiring extensive prep work before we could even begin the metal installation. The existing roof deck was uneven and poorly insulated, so our crew first removed all layers down to the framing, inspecting for rot and compromised wood. To bring the structure up to code and ensure long-term performance, we added 2" foil-faced polyisocyanurate insulation across the deck, carefully taping seams for a continuous thermal barrier. From there, 2x4 sleepers were installed vertically into the rafters with 5” screws, followed by a new layer of 5/8" CDX plywood—a full rebuild that created a sturdy, ventilated substrate ideal for a standing seam system.
Once the foundation was sound, we installed a 24-gauge standing seam metal roofing system with 16” panels and 1.5” seams, complete with all flashings, pipe boots, and Colorgard snow rails for protection. This was not part of our usual scope—especially during the busy season—but for this home, it was necessary to do it right. The result is a roof that’s not only stunning but built for decades of performance and energy efficiency, turning a structural challenge into a standout project in Easthampton.
