Good roofing company but I will never have CertainTeed shingles put on my roof again. Warranty is useless.
Ms. Devoll, I am confused about why you have updated/reposted your review for a third time, as this is still an issue between you and CertainTeed. The quality of Powell Roofing’s work has not changed. When we spoke about this review back in June 2024, you stated: “I was pretty sure I removed that review when I realized this was really a CertainTeed issue and as I go through all my reviews I do not see it. I do recommend to people that they not use Certain Teed shingles because this should not have happened and I feel that I should not have to file a claim with them and that they should pay to clean any roof that gets black streaks during the warranty period, no matter whether the streaks are algae or not.” Once again, I am sorry you are not happy with CertainTeed's (10 to 15 year) algae warranty process or that you “have to prove some-how that it is blue-green algae before they will pay for the cleaning?" and "THEY do the analysis and decide whether they will pay for it? No thanks. I will never use Certainteed again." I understand that you are frustrated that CertainTeed requires you to allow them to inspect the shingle sample for algae before honoring an algae claim and will not simply pay to clean your roof at your request with no analysis. Unfortunately, Powell Roofing has no control over this process or whether or not they clean/replace your roof based on your algae claim. Although we installed your roof 8 years ago, Powell Roofing DID return twice, once to inspect the shingles and then AGAIN to collect the samples at your request. This is STILL an issue that you have with CertainTeed, not with Powell Roofing.
