I had a shower replacement. The salesman they sent out claimed the inside of the wall behind the tile was completely saturated and even the studs may need to be replaced. He proved it to me by holding up a moisture meter on the tile. I was horrified. He talked me into a very, very expensive shower replacement, but at least the stud replacement would be included.
