Project Overview: Metal Roof Transformation in Allandale

Project Type: Insurance Restoration / Roof Replacement

Location: Allandale, Austin, TX

Materials Used: 24-Gauge Standing Seam Metal

Color: Mansard Brown

Project Description

We recently completed a full roof transformation for this beautiful home in the heart of the Allandale neighborhood. This project began as an insurance claim following local storm damage, allowing the homeowner to upgrade from a traditional asphalt shingle roof to a premium, long-lasting Standing Seam Metal system.

The homeowners selected Mansard Brown, a rich, earthy tone that perfectly complements the mid-century aesthetic and mature trees common in the 78757 area. Unlike standard shingles, this standing seam system offers superior durability against Texas hail and significantly improved energy efficiency to combat the Austin summer heat.

Key Features of this Installation:

  • Aesthetic Upgrade: The sleek lines of the metal panels provide a modern, high-end finish that boosts curb appeal.
  • Hidden Fasteners: The standing seam design ensures no exposed screws, minimizing the risk of leaks over time.
  • Insurance Expertise: Our team managed the technical details of the insurance claim to ensure the homeowner received a high-quality replacement with minimal out-of-pocket stress.
  • Sustainability: The Mansard Brown finish features cool-roof technology to reflect solar radiation.
  • New Gutters: Seamless gutters were added to complement the roof system, improving drainage and protecting the home’s exterior.

Why Standing Seam for Allandale?

Allandale is known for its charm and long-term residents. A standing seam metal roof is a "lifetime" solution, often lasting 50+ years, making it one of the smartest investments a homeowner can make in this appreciating Austin market.

Pro Tip: If you've lived in Allandale through recent hail seasons, your roof may be eligible for a similar upgrade through your insurance provider.

My wife and I had a skylight installed by Storm Guard recently and it turned out very nice. Our Rep from SG was David Crawley and he was very easy to work with. We had some shipping issues with getting the skylight from North Carolina (Velux) and it took three times to get it to us without damage. This was no fault of Storm Guard, nor was it the fault of Velux. It was the fault of the shipping company who handled the merchandise poorly. Nevertheless, David came up with a temporary solution consi... Read more

Jason was wonderful to work with. He investigated, found the leak, and wrote a report--all for free! Once we determine the source of the leak (just need it to rain heavily again), we'll definitely enlist the services of Storm Guard Roofing to fix it.

We have an older home, built in 1977 and recently did some bathroom renovations. Had to enclose a tiny window in the master bath, so no more natural light, ugh. Learned that Storm Guard installed solar tunnels which are smaller versions of skylights, with highly reflective metal tube up to the roof. Is just amazing! They came out and did estimates including some roof repair items needed. Very reasonable, excellent work and communications, very happy with results!

Jason has been a pleasure to work with. He gave me a fair estimate for gutters and was also very helpful on a later visit when I needed assistance with a roof leak. He’s very honest about your repair needs and does not push you to make a decision on the spot. I would definitely recommend this company to all of my family and friends.
