The gentlemen I met with, both quoting and installing, were professional and courteous. My shutters were not installed properly by a previous contractor and were pulling out of the brick. TC Backer was the third contractor to look at and finally fix the problem. They were also willing to look at two other minor fixes needed. The jobs were completed with efficiency and much to my satisfaction. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

I would like to know where the TC Backer was that everyone else raved about. After our salesman departed, we were left attempting in vain to get communication regarding our projects for months. Once the projects got off the ground, we dealt with issues regarding job site cleanliness and having the work completed according to specifications. Food wrappers were left on the job sites. Over four dozen fasteners were found around the work area. They promised a sweep with a magnetic device to pic... Read more

Hello Jeffrey, Thank you for sharing your concerns with us... and thank you for being patient with my response. We sincerely apologize for the issues you've encountered and for not meeting the high standards we strive to uphold, which you rightfully expected based on others' experiences. Addressing your points: Communication - We recognize the importance of consistent communication and regret that it was not satisfactory in your case. We are actively working to improve our communication protocols to ensure that all clients are regularly updated and fully informed throughout their projects. Job Site Cleanliness and Safety - The cleanliness of the job site and the safety of our clients’ properties are paramount. It’s clear we fell short in our processes for cleaning up, including the magnetic sweep for fasteners. We are taking immediate steps to ensure our teams adhere strictly to cleanup procedures after every project. Work Quality - We strive for quality craftsmanship to be a cornerstone of our work, and it appears we did not deliver on this promise for your project. This awareness will help us continue to improve moving forward. Unexpected Visits - We apologize for any inconvenience caused by our team’s unscheduled visits. Going forward, we will reinforce with our staff the importance of notifying property owners and tenants in advance. Warm regards, John Stauffer Marketing & Sales Director, TC Backer Construction

Did our shutters and gutters and did it well. Not our first time using their service, they were great again. And we will use their services again. You won’t be disappointed.

A storm in April caused us to lose a large amount of shingles from our roof. We called T.C. Backer and that same day they were out to meet the 3rd party insurance inspector. Doug handled everything professionally and was available at all times of the day to discuss our claim process with us. Doug, also insured that we were able to get a full replacement for damages that occurred. He was upfront throughout the process and for that we are thankful. I would not hesitate to let them handle anot... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

We have been a family-owned exterior remodeling company serving York, PA and surrounding communities since 2008, and we have earned the GAF Master Elite certification, which places us in the top 2% of roofing contractors in all of North America. We have been voted Best Roofer in York four years in a row by the community, won over a dozen York Builders Association PEAK Achievement Awards, and hold hundreds of five-star Google reviews. What keeps homeowners coming back is simple: honest inspections, clear pricing with no hidden fees, and a 100% satisfaction guarantee on everything we do.

Yes, we are a GAF Certified Commercial Roofing Contractor serving business owners across Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Delaware, and beyond. For commercial projects we offer System Pledge Roof Guarantees and Integrated System Limited Warranties, and our crews are trained and certified specifically for commercial roofing systems. Whether you manage a small commercial property or a larger building, we bring the same commitment to quality and transparency that our residential customers rely on.

We are a full exterior remodeling company, and beyond roofing, gutters, and siding we also install replacement windows, solar roofing systems including GAF Timberline Solar shingles, and smart outdoor home lighting. We also offer instant online roof quotes so you can get a realistic price estimate before even scheduling an inspection, which is something very few contractors in the area provide. Whether you want to tackle one service or upgrade your entire exterior, we handle it all under one roof with licensed, insured crews and warranty-backed work.

We offer an 18-month zero interest, no monthly payments financing plan through Service Finance Company, making it possible to move forward with your project immediately without any financial pressure during that period. If the balance is paid in full within the 18 months, no interest is charged at all. Our team will walk you through the details and available options during your free consultation so you can choose what makes the most sense for your situation.

It almost always is. Many of the most costly types of roof damage, including granule loss, cracked underlayment, and compromised flashing, are not visible from the ground and can allow water to work its way in long before you notice anything inside. We offer free professional inspections throughout York, Hanover, Red Lion, Dallastown, and surrounding areas, and we also assist with storm damage insurance claims from documentation all the way through meeting with your adjuster when needed. The inspection costs you nothing and gives you either peace of mind or the information you need to take action.
