Sorry, that the total due from you was $1300.00 more than you expected. This was due to wood decking that was rotted or delaminated and was no longer suitable for new shingles to be installed. We inspect the attic area when estimate is given to see if any bad decking can be observed. Bad decking often cannot be detected until roofing material is removed, which was the case in this instance. We completed your roof from start to finish in a single day. The bad decking was all exposed within the first 2 to 3 hours. Due to the liability of an exposed deck to the elements, we cannot stop work to get further permission. You were informed at the time of the estimate that this was a possibility. The price per sheet was stated on the contract, which you agreed to. We attempted to get your insurance to cover the cost, however they refused, stating that the damage to the roof decking was pre-existing before the storm damage claim. We worked out a payment plan with you for the additional $1300.00 to make this easier for you to pay. We do everything we can to detect bad wood at time of the estimate, but it is not always possible.
