This low-slope roof was leaking due to improper roofing materials. Asphalt shingles are only recommended for 2/12 slopes (with extra precautiuons) or 4/12 and greater. Roofs with low slopes less than 2/12 can experience leaks due to water going under the shingles and leaking into the house.

For low-slope roofs, manufacturers and the building code specify a waterproof roofing material such as EPDM rubber, Rolled Asphalt, TPO, or PVC. For this homeowner, we installed Self-Adhered Modified Bitumen (SA Mod-Bit) roof system as it delivers the reliable protection of traditional modified bitumen roofing. The advantage for homeowners is availability in ten colors designed and engineered to match the most popular shingle color blends

Rolled asphalt systems are used in both residential and commercial applications with the advantage of being lower cost.

We installed the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System with Landmark Pro shingles in the Georgetown Gray color.

Integrity Roof System is comprised of:

1. Waterproofing Underlayment - The first step in your defense against the elements. Self-adhering underlayment is installed at vulnerable areas of your roof to help prevent leaks from wind-driven rain and ice dams
2. Water-Resistant Underlayment - provides a protective layer over the roof deck and acts as a secondary barrier against leaks.
3. Starter Shingles - first course of shingles that are installed and designed to work in tandem with the roof shingles above for optimal shingle sealing and performance.
4. Shingles - Choose from a variety of Good-Better-Best styles to complement any roof design
5. Ventilation - allows air to flow on the underside of your roof deck, keeping the attic cooler in the summer and drier in the winter.
6. Hip & Ridge Cap Shingles - used on the roof’s hip and ridge lines for a distinctive finishing touch on your new roof.

We installed the Landmark Pro architectural shingles improve upon the CertainTeed Landmark shingle, a leading consumer publication’s “Best Buy” for the past five years. The Pro adds more weathering asphalt to the industry’s toughest fiberglass mat to provide more protection and weighs 250 lbs/square.
