Pinnacle Roofing identified the source of a chimney leak and added a cricket on the up slope side of the chimney.
A chimney cricket is a small, peaked roof structure installed on the high side of a chimney to divert water and debris away from the chimney and prevent leaks and water damage. It is typically constructed from the same materials as the roof and is designed to ensure that water flows around the chimney rather than collecting against it. This helps to extend the life of the roof and chimney by reducing the risk of water-related issues.
We stripped the shingles down to the roof deck, installed the chimney cricket and covered the plywood with an ice and water barrier. After that we installed step-flashing and GAF Timberline Weathered Wood shingles. Lastly, we install new lead counter flashing over the step-flashing to create a water tight chimney.
