Pinnacle Roofing and Skylights was proud to work on the historic Joseph Whipple House by replacing an old skylight with an energy saving Velux Solar-Powered Venting Skylight with Solar-Powered Shades. We carefully removed the surrounding cedar shake so we could make repairs to the wood deck that was damaged by water. After we replaced the wood decking, we were able install a new skylight with Velux's patented "No Leak" skylight system. Lastly, we installed replacement Western Red Cedar 5/8" Tapersawn shingles for authenticity.
Additionally, the original chimney needed some attention, so we replaced the lead counter flashing by carefully grinding out the old lead, so we could install and mortar in new flashing.
Originally built c. 1720, the Joseph Whipple House is a gorgeous Colonial carefully restored to preserve all its original details including the beautiful wide plank floors, the four original fireplaces, and its doors and hardware. In 1979 it was moved from Star Street to Burrs Lane, a quiet oasis in the middle of the city lined with historic homes off of Benefit Street.
