Pinnacle Roofing replaced both the roof and skylights, but before we could make those changes, we had to install a new roof deck.

In cases where the roof deck is old or has spaced sheathing boards, plywood needs to be installed per building code over the old roof deck to create a solid surface for the new asphalt shingles. Plywood sheathing delivers outstanding stiffness, strength, and versatility for roof assemblies. Pinnacle Roofing cut & installed new plywood over the old roof deck and attached with framing nails to the rafters.

After we installed the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System with Landmark Pro shingles in the Moire Black color. The Landmark Pro architectural shingles improve upon the CertainTeed Landmark shingle, a leading consumer publication’s “Best Buy” for the past five years. The Pro adds more weathering asphalt to the industry’s toughest fiberglass mat to provide more protection and weighs 250 lbs/square.

Lastly, we replaced three old skylights with Velux Solar Powered "Fresh Air" Skylights which feature a solar panel that captures any available daylight to recharge a highly efficient, fully concealed, battery-powered operator and control system that allows the skylight open/closed at a touch of a button. Also there is a built-in rain sensor that automatically closes the window in case of stormy weather. The remote control allows for seasonal energy efficiency to open skylights to provide fresh air and reduce heat.

Pinnacle’s crew did a wonderful job on the flat roof of our sun parlor. The white membrane was a special order. The crew worked in “stocking feet” as they applied the “full adhesion” cement to the substrate and the membrane. I waited for the rain on 6/24/23 before writing this review.
