Pinnacle Roofing was in the downtown village of Jamestown, RI to make a roof replacement for the Jamestown Press. They occupy this building with a mansard roof, which is a distinctive roof with two slopes on each side, the lower one being much steeper, designed to create extra usable space (a garret) within the top floor. The complex design can add space, but has a higher cost due to additional roofing materials and needs special attention potential water drainage issues, especially where slopes meet.
The Pinnacle Roofing team removed the old roofing, inspected the wood deck for repairs, and then began the process to install the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System. We installed CertainTeed Landmark PRO shingles in Max Def Pewterwood to compliment the natural wood cedar shake siding. The team also used PVC trim boards and drip edge to ensure a seamless transition at the pitch change on the mansard roof. For the lower roof section, it is important to install the shingles per the manufacturer specifications. Due to the steep pitch (25/12) roof sections, to properly secure shingles, manufacturers require additional adhesive to prevent shingle separation. Unfortunately, most roofers skip this step, causing premature roof failure.
