It seemed like a simple enough plan replace the linoleum in the kitchen with wood to match the rest of the house...until I learned that the wood is Tasmanian oak.
(A 1957 Greenbrae house - hollow core doors but Tasmanian oak floors? Really?)
Met with three floor companies that couldn't do it because they told me the wood was unavailable unless I went to Tasmania and cut down a tree myself. (A bit of an exaggeration but directionally accurate.)

I worked with Dermot and co. to get new floors installed during our remodel. I was very happy with the service, the result of the install, and the overall value for our money. Certainly they weren't the absolute cheapest place we could go with but in the end I feel like we got very nice wood floors, transparent pricing, installed perfectly, and ultimately floors that seem extremely solid and long lasting. Dermot and his team did an excellent job of installing hardwood floors in our downstairs. Excellent people, quality work, terrific product are three of the reasons you should use this company. We have more to work to do (stairs and upper floor) when we finish our remodel and we're confident that they'll do the same stellar job on this section as well. Good honest people who do terrific work.
They completed phase 1 of our hardwood floor installation, and we were very pleased with their work. More than that, they really helped us find the right flooring, which was not easy. During that process, they felt that the sample of the flooring we picked out didn't show all the variation in color that was normal for the wood, so they ordered a box of it and put it together in their showroom to make sure we liked it before ordering.
